Teleco expands its Ultra Comfort range: new 9000M for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter to debut at Caravan Salon
Designed from the ground up specifically for the Mercedes platform, this new ‘invisible’ air-conditioning system keeps the roof clear, comes in two dedicated configurations for front- and rear-wheel-drive vehicles, and can also operate off-grid when paired with a suitably specified electrical systems.
Lugo di Ravenna (29 August 2026) – Teleco has announced the launch of the Ultra Comfort 9000M air-conditioning system, a new version developed specifically for motorhomes and campervans built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platform. The new model will be officially unveiled at the forthcoming Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, where it will make its world premiere.
The Ultra Comfort 9000M is not merely an adaptation of the existing system for Stellantis base vehicles; but rather an entirely new design developed from the ground up. The significant structural differences between the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and other base vehicles on the market required a dedicated development process, both in terms of mechanical engineering and integration within the engine compartment.
To accommodate the Sprinter’s different configurations, Teleco has developed two distinct versions of the new Ultra Comfort 9000M. The MS version is designed for front-wheel-drive vehicles, while the MV version has been engineered for rear-wheel-drive models. Both are suitable for panel vans, pop-up roof campervans and low profile motorhomes measuring approximately 6 to 7.5 metres in length.
The different arrangement of mechanical components within the engine compartment made two specific configurations necessary in order to ensure consistent performance, reliability and ease of installation, regardless of vehicle type. The system cannot be installed in vehicles fitted with a manual gearbox.
Like all air-conditioning systems in the Ultra Comfort range, the new model features an architecture that makes it easy to install either during the vehicle conversion process or later as an aftermarket accessory. The indoor unit is seamlessly integrated into the dashboard, while the compressor is installed inside the engine compartment and remains completely hidden from view.
This solution eliminates the need for an external rooftop unit, preserving the vehicle’s appearance and reducing its overall weight by up to five kilograms compared with conventional models currently available on the market. The absence of rooftop components also allows rooflights to retain their natural light and ventilation functions. This makes the system particularly suitable for pop-up roof campervans, where installing a conventional air-conditioning unit can often be problematic. Keeping the roof clear also avoids obstructions that could adversely affect the vehicle’s aerodynamics.
Discreet and seamlessly integrated into the vehicle interior, the Ultra Comfort 9000M indoor unit distributes conditioned air from floor level upwards. This eliminates the need for ceiling-mounted vents and prevents unpleasant streams of cold air from being directed at occupants. Air vents that can be adjusted in any direction, three fan speeds, and an automatic mode ensure an even temperature throughout the living area.
Installing the compressor in the engine compartment also helps to reduce perceived noise and vibration inside the vehicle. This improves comfort while parked and makes sleeping at night more pleasant. The system’s fully integrated design also provides greater protection against accidental impacts, weather exposure and attempted theft.
The Ultra Comfort 9000M offers a cooling capacity of 7,900 BTU/h (2,310 W) and a heating capacity of up to 7,560 BTU/h through its heat-pump function, allowing it to be used for much of the year. Its rated current draw is 4.4 A, with power consumption of approximately 1,000 W in cooling mode.
The air-conditioning system requires a 230 V, 50 Hz power supply. To operate it from a 12 V leisure battery, including when camping off-grid, Teleco recommends pairing it with the dedicated TI 2000 SI-ACT inverter, which produces a stable 230 V sine-wave output. For effective operation away from a mains electricity supply, a correctly specified electrical system is recommended, including a LiFePO4 battery bank of at least 100 Ah, taking into account the required operating time and any other electrical loads on board.
All functions can be controlled using the remote control, while the integrated display shows the selected temperature. In keeping with Teleco’s Smart Camper philosophy, the new Ultra Comfort 9000M can be connected via Wi-Fi to the onboard 4G WLT24EX2 or 5G WLT58EX router and controlled remotely using the dedicated app.
As an optional feature, the system can be equipped with Steril Air Pro, Teleco’s patented technology combining UV-A LEDs with photocatalytic filters to help purify the air in the living area and reduce odours, bacteria, viruses and allergens. The solution is designed to improve onboard air quality, including when travelling with children or pets.
Particular attention has also been paid to simplifying installation. All components are connected using flexible hoses that are pre-charged with R1234yf refrigerant and fitted with quick-release couplings. This solution significantly reduces installation time and associated costs.
